The professional association for design. New York, Upstate Chapter

Programming Committee

Programming is at the core of what our chapter does. It is how we provide value to our members and contribute to the design community at large. Volunteers make our programming possible with opportunities to contribute in high profile roles like an Event Director down to just helping us tear down after an event.

Here are some of volunteer positions needed to support an event:

  • Event Coordinator: Spearhead the event planning in a particular Hub with the support of the Programming Director

  • Event Planning Committee members: Support the Event Coordinator in performing a variety of event planning tasks from venue procurement to speaker travel arrangements to event signage

  • Promotional materials designer(s): Work closely with the Event Director, Event Coordinator, and Event Planning Committee members to develop promotional event materials (print & web)

  • Event set-up and break down helpers (day of event): Set up tables, signage, event-specific equipment, etc. an hour or more in advance of the event.

  • Registration (day of event): Greet attendees as they arrive, make sure they're registered and collect the event fee if not. Be prepared to answer questions about the event.

The following reoccurring statewide and local events require new volunteers on a regular basis:

  • NY State of Design: Statewide Design Competition
  • CMYK: Come Meet Your Kind

If any of the above events sound interesting and you would like to know more about possible volunteer opportunities, please contact our Contact the Programming Committee

Get Involved! AIGA Upstate New York is a great way to meet other designers, hone your professional skills and give back to your community. Plus, without our dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to carry out the incredible events and initiatives planned throughout the year. So we need you!
