Gatherings About Professional Skills was a series of events that was organized by Wendy Kelly and Marj Crum in Rochester. They were casual events that were member organized and open to the public to share knowledge.
I challenge you to organize a GAPS event in your area. Find a professional who has valuable content, a convenient venue and tell us about it. Maybe you are the professional; maybe the venue is your studio. Inform us about the details. We are sorry, we cannot provide financial assistance for printing or renting space. As problem solvers, this should not stop you from figuring out how to accomplish such an event. What we can provide you is with media sponsorship. Announcing it to the membership through email and promote it on our web site.
Of course, you should invite your immediate community to attend using your own creative means of communication; like the telephone or your email address book. Also, you can video the event and we can put it on our web site for those who can not attend. An event like this would be a great way to show off your skills or knowledge base and get great exposure in your peer community.
For any questions on how to plan GAPS events, contact Marj Crum, AIGA Upstate programming diva or myself.
