AIGA | Get Inspired Video

https://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/get-inspired
I received my dvd in the mail on Thursday. It was one of those happy moments of heading to the mail box and finding that you received a long awaited item that only physical production and the USPS can slow down the delivery of to make the anticipation nearly unbearable.

Cardboard packaging with some funky typography. Nice first impression. My thought was "AIGA is displaying they are in the 21st century, thank God they did not use a jewel case or Bodoni". Truly a nice introduction to the organization by displaying a freshness of material and typography.

I popped the DVD into my MacBook Pro and it spit the disk back at me twice until it read. Talking about anticipation. Finally, it rolled!

A little bit of history with a flurry of AIGA logos, some familiar faces telling me to "get inspired" with a stoic Ric Grefe laying a true foundation of what we are: an organization that has been around almost as long as the undying modernist movement. Throughout, there were thoughtful commentaries of what AIGA means to each of the individuals accompanied by eclectic yet appropriate motion graphics. Finishing with Sean Adams call to get out of the kitchen and work together (but the kitchen is where everyone hangs out when we have parties and the best conversation happens there... just kidding).

Get inspired is a well produced presentation of our professional organization that addresses potential members but also "inspires" long-time members on the value of our role in the industry and our communities as design professionals... all in 7 minutes.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.

NOTE:
I showed the dvd/video to my web design class at University at Buffalo and received lots of positive feedback from the students. Much of it was on the "quality" of the video making them think positively about the organization. To quote one, "I did not know that AIGA was that serious of a group". He continued, "the quality of the video really is impressive. I want to be a part of that".

It goes to show, no matter how many ways you tell folks about how: great, relevant, important, dedicated, professional, or as the student said, serious our organization is to our profession. The power of a message is often how it is delivered. The video is right choice at this time.

I am not a fan of capturing an audience to show share great information. I do believe in the power of viral internet videos. Through a little help of our friends at Google Cache...

GET INSPIRED!

Is it me, or did YWFT have a fairly large hand in making this?
