Compostmodern, the preeminent interdisciplinary design conference devoted to sustainability, will be held in San Francisco on February 21, 2009. For the first time, the conference will also be webcast live, encouraging online participation across the country without the impact of carbon emissions from traveling to the conference.

Yes, the conference is being held in San Francisco. But, you can still attend by joining the web cast for the event. AIGA UPSTNY encourages you to register for the webcast of this event. The perks of doing so:

  • 1. You don't have to pay for a plane ticket

  • 2. You don't have to pay for a hotel

  • 3. It is being held on a Saturday, you can watch the event at home in your pajamas.

The past year’s acceleration curve on sustainable issues and awareness has been nothing short of meteoric. Now that candidates are touting “green-collar jobs and alternative fuels as the means to lift us from the current economic doldrums, people are more interested in sustainability than ever before. Accordingly, Compostmodern is now an annual affair — endeavoring as always to provide designers and business people the inspiration and the tools necessary to build a more sustainable future.

Join the conversation in San Francisco or through the Webcast of the event on February 21, 2009 for a day of fresh design thinking and some hands-on dirty work. Confirmed speakers, event status and past presentations can all be found on the Compostmodern 09 website. Registration is available online.
