Q+A | Panel of Design Professionals at RIT

We have invited 6 panelists to answer any questions design students may have about the industry that they have not had answered in their course work. The panelists range from 25+ years experience to 2 years experience.

The talk is open to ALL DESIGN STUDENTS: Graphic, Interactive, Printing Media and Photo! It is all part of ONE INDUSTRY… DESIGN.

To encourage dialogue from the entire Upstate Design Community, we have created an online form to submit questions to the panelists and anyone who wants to contribute advice.

Capital Region Portfolio Review

The Upstate NY Chapter of the AIGA invites the 2009 graduating graphic design students from Upstate NY to our first annual Capital District Student Portfolio Review.

THE EVENT:

The review is a chance for you to practice your interview skills and get valuable feedback from local professionals about your design work and resume in a no-risk, non-competitive environment geared at preparing you for the professional interviewing process. Depending upon number of students registering, we may split the event into (2) 1.5 hour sessions: 6-7:30pm and 7:30-9pm.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

You will receive objective advice and thoughtful one-on-one commentary and criticism of your design work from local design educators, professional designers, and potential employers. While this event is not a job fair, some reviewers may be looking for potential employees or interns. This event is a great way to discuss your work, network and become aware of who’s who in the Capital Region design community.

WHO CAN ATTEND:

Students: The review is open to college seniors, 2009 graduates, and MFA candidates from Upstate New York.

Reviewers: The review is open to local art and design professionals and educators from NY’s Capital Region.

WHAT TO BRING:

Bring 12-15 pieces of your best work from your portfolio, as well as multiple copies of your resume and business cards. If you plan on showing interactive or rich-media work, please bring a fully-charged laptop and extension cord.
