This just came over the wire from Charles Carpenter, President of AIGA Colorado...
... (I) feel strongly that, this is could snowball and become a movement to inspire designers to give back, to do the right thing like, consciously specifying environmentally friendly stock, using earth friendly inks and processes, to inspire and move people, to deliver a concept in such a way it profoundly changes the way we communicate with each other and positively advances the human race. Not only that but also it can show that doing the right thing creates work that is beautiful inside and out.
Part of what success looks like for the AIGA (Re)designAwards is the ability to give back to the design community. We (AIGA Colorado) are the host chapter for the AIGA (Re)designAwards this year. We will package this up as a toolkit complete with seed money for another chapter to host next year. Proceeds from the competition will be used for programs on sustainable design and mentorship.
We could use your help letting design firms, agencies and businesses know about the competition. Help shine a spotlight on success stories in your city or state. Do you know of agencies that created non-profit success stories in your community? Do you know of design firms obsessed with incorporating green practices into their process? Tell them about the AIGA (Re)designAwards and encourage them to enter.
