Introduction to The Platen Press: It's Like Rubbing Your Belly and Patting Your Head!
Cost: $50.00
Time: 3 hours, 6pm to 9pm.
Make beautiful impressions! Learn about furniture, quoins, and reglets as you lock-up a form in a chase, and print it on a hand or foot operated Platen press. You will learn how to lubricate the press, apply ink, adjust impression, set guides, and print a project.
Understand the difference between how to produce a perfect “kiss impression” or how to get a nice “bite” in your print. Also learn how different types of paper can affect your final printed piece.
While your beautiful printed pieces dry, you will learn to properly wash-up the press and then explore some other opportunities at Dock 2 Letterpress.Combine this class with the Introductory Typesetting class and print a project you typeset yourself!
