The development of communication technologies for remote collaboration through low- and high-bandwidths has created opportunities to bridge geographic and cultural divides in design.
How are designers using technology to facilitate interaction with global communities--particularly indigenous ones? How is design pedagogy incorporating global interaction? What are some of the intellectual and creative outcomes of these efforts?
GLIDE '10 will address these thought-provoking questions among others and bring together, virtually, an international mix of designers to share first-rate experiences teaching and conducting collaborative research globally. GLIDE '10 will highlight current technological trends in global collaborations between designers and communities in first, second, third and fourth world regions around the world including the United States, Europe, China, Japan, Korea, India, Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
