WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND: You will receive insight from local design educators, professional designers, and potential employers on preparing your portfolio, interviewing techniques and what to expect when you begin your job search. This event is a great opportunity to polish up your presentation skills, learn new things, and network and become aware of who's who in your local design community.
WHO CAN ATTEND: The workshop is open to college students slated to graduate with design degrees in 2016, or recent 2015 design graduates.
WHO IS SPEAKING AT THIS EVENT: We've got a great lineup of leading area designers speaking on a wide variety of topics that are paramount to graduating designer students, including:
Joe Acee: "Small Steps (getting to and working at a big agency)"
Michelle Bersani: "Getting Involved for Growth"
Curtis Canham: “Truth Tella”
Jeremy Chapline: "Shut Up and Listen"
Paul Engel: "Abby-normal—an alternate career path"
Joshua Korenblat: "Transform your Portfolio into a Case Study with Evidence of your Creative Process: Sketching, Writing, and Design Thinking"
Amanda Magee: "Do the Research"
Daniel Romlein: "Stick with the Wheel"
Dan Rose: "Make your Mark"
Amy Papaelias: "You Are What You Kern: Typographic Details in Resumes and Portfolios"
I Heard Last Year's Event Ran Long. We heard that too, so we've girded our loins, recruited a few less speakers, and will keep a better eye on the clock this time around.
What about Smith's? But of course. We'll head down the block to the world-famous Smith's of Cohoes for post event merryment and libations. All attendees are invited. That's just what we do.
