HERITAGE

The original Dinosaur logo, sketched by Owner John Stage’s friend, dates to the days when Stage and his partner hauled a 55-gallon-drum-turned-smoker to biker events, serving its unique “slow and low” barbecue to the crowds, years before the first Dinosaur Bar-B-Que joint opened in Syracuse, New York in 1988.

EVOLUTION

The Dinosaur brand evolution began when CINSYR was asked about reimagining the iconic dinosaur logo. The familiar green dinosaur with a bowtie and plate of food was showing its age, and Stage believed it was time for a change.

He said, “The Dinosaur brand is now over 30 years old. As the brand evolves, we needed to update our look while respecting our past.”

PROCESS

CINSYR co-founder Antoun Chouery says its brand immersion process was critical to evolving such an iconic brand. “When you are updating such a major brand element like the Dinosaur logo, it has a ripple effect across the entire brand identity. Together with the Dinosaur team, we didn’t just update one logo; we evolved the entire look and feel of the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que experience.”

CINSYR is a creative agency based in Syracuse, New York, that specializes in creating and evolving unique brand experiences. The Dinosaur Bar-B-Que brand boasts seven locations, six in New York (Syracuse, Rochester, Harlem, Troy, Brooklyn, and Buffalo), and Newark, New Jersey.
